Goldenwest Named One Of The Best Credit Unions To Work For

Ogden, UT: November 12, 2014 – Goldenwest Credit Union has been named one of the 2014 Best Credit Unions to Work For. Credit Union Journal and Best Companies Group have partnered to identify credit unions that have excelled in creating quality workplaces for their employees.

This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best credit unions. The entire Best Credit Unions to Work for list that is comprised of 30 companies is featured in the October 20 issue of Credit Union Journal.

“We were very pleased that Credit Union Journal named Goldenwest among the top 10 large credit unions in the nation to work for,” stated Kerry H. Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “Goldenwest surpassed the $1 billion mark for the first time less than a year ago, so it’s thrilling for us to be named one of the best credit unions to work for in this classification.”

To be considered for participation, credit unions had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 25 employees working in the U.S.
  • Be one of the following categories based upon asset size: Over $1billion, $500M-$1B, $200M-$500M or Under $200M

There is a two-step process for identifying the Best Credit Unions to Work. The first step evaluates each participating credit union’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This equates for approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second step consists of employee surveys which evaluate experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. This part is worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The two scores combined determine the final ranking.

“Creating a healthy and productive environment for our employees is an excellent investment for the credit union,” continued Wahlen. “Happy and well employees can focus on taking care of our members’ needs.”
