Goldenwest Named Among Best Credit Unions To Work For

Ogden, UT: September 23, 2015 – For the second consecutive year, Credit Union Journal has named Goldenwest among the “Best Credit Unions To Work For” in the nation. The esteemed list includes credit unions that have excelled in creating quality workplaces for their employees. Goldenwest achieved this honor in the category for large credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets.

This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best credit unions across the country. The entire Best Credit Unions To Work For list is comprised of 45 credit unions, and featured in the September issue of Credit Union Journal.

One of the contributing factors of Goldenwest’s successful work environment is the credit union’s employee wellness program, Hubbub Health. Employee engagement is high due the technology-driven wellness plan options that are customizable for each individual.

“Creating a healthy and productive environment for our employees is an excellent investment for the credit union,” commented Kerry H. Wahlen, Goldenwest President/CEO. “Happy and well employees can focus on taking care of our members’ needs. Our nationally-recognized Wellness Program has achieved noteworthy momentum that we will strive to continue for the foreseeable future.”

To be considered for participation in the Best Credit Unions To Work For award, credit unions had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Have at least 25 employees working in the U.S.
- Be one of the following categories based upon asset size:
Over $1 billion, $500M-$1B, $200M-$500M or Under $200M

There is a two-step process for identifying the Best Credit Unions To Work For. The first step evaluates each participating credit union’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This equates for approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second step consists of employee surveys which evaluate experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. This part is worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The two scores combined determine the final ranking.
