Goldenwest Restructures Executive Team

OGDEN, UT: May 1, 2015 – Goldenwest Credit Union recently announced the restructuring of its executive team aimed at improving member service, advancing product development, innovating delivery channels, and creating efficiencies in its organizational structure. Overseeing the new leadership structure is Kerry Wahlen, who will continue to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer.

“Restructuring our senior leadership team is a critical component of our strategic plan to meet the demands of a fast-growing billion dollar credit union,” stated Wahlen. “I am fortunate to work with gifted and dedicated individuals who strive to protect and serve the best interests of our members, and promote advancement in a rapidly-changing industry.”

Darren GodfreyDarren Godfrey has been promoted to an Executive Vice President for Goldenwest Credit Union. His responsibilities include providing oversight for all aspects of the credit union’s expense categories. Godfrey is the administrator directing the Accounting, Commercial Lending and Information Technology Departments. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Master of Professional Accountancy Degree from Weber State University, and holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant. He has been employed by Goldenwest since 1990, where he has held the positions of Accounting Manager, Controller and Vice President-Chief Financial Officer prior to his promotion to an Executive Vice President. Godfrey is originally from Ogden, and currently lives in Fruit Heights.

Mark TurnerMark Turner has been promoted to an Executive Vice President for Goldenwest Credit Union. His expanded responsibilities include providing oversight for business development and numerous profit centers at the credit union. Turner is the administrator responsible for Insurance, Investments, Indirect Lending, Sales, and the Call Center. He brings more than 30 years of insurance and financial services experience to the position. Turner earned the President’s Council Award for 12 consecutive years in insurance services. Turner is a life-long resident of Weber and Davis Counties.

Rich EvansRich Evans has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President for Goldenwest Credit Union. His responsibilities include providing oversight for the credit union’s branch network and facilities. Evans is the administrator providing oversight for the Consumer Lending, Underwriting, Operations, Payment Services, Collections, Security, Human Resources and Training Departments. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management from Weber State University. He has been employed with Goldenwest since 1992, where he has previously held the positions of Assistant Credit Manager, Vice President-Branches, Vice President-Lending and Vice President-Chief Operational Officer. Evans is originally from Ogden, and currently lives in Pleasant View.

David ButterfieldDavid Butterfield will continue in his role as Division President for USU Credit Union. His expanded responsibilities include managing Consumer Lending Production and overseeing Legislative Affairs. Butterfield’s professional career and voluntary service accounts for more than 20 years of leadership and management experience. His tenure at USU Credit Union began in 2004, where he held the position of Marketing/Sales Director and Chief Marketing Officer before he was promoted to President/CEO in 2011. Butterfield played a key role in negotiating and leading the highly successful strategic merger with Goldenwest in 2013. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Utah State University and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Brigham Young University. Butterfield resides in Logan with his family.
